Although Dachau was the main camp for Catholic Priests, there were no Catholic nuns incarcerated in the former Dachau Concentration Camp, which was a labor camp mainly for male inmates. However, there were several Carmelite nuns who figured prominently in the Holocaust in the Auschwitz-Birkenau labor and extermination camps near the town of Auschwitz in Poland.
