Romanischer Karner (Beinhaus) in Mauthausen, Austria

St. Barbara's chapel, which dates back to the middle of the 13th century, stands on the hill above the Danube in Mauthausen. Note the gate to the right, which is shown in the photo below.

Memorial to the soldiers who died in two world wars

This monument to the war dead from Mauthausen stands next to the parish church. This is a sad sight that you will see in every town throughout Germany and Austria, where millions died for their country.
